Set to hit screens on its new release date on July 9, 2021, comics fanatics are anxiously waiting for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow’s upcoming movie, starring Scarlett Johansson. The action-packed spy thriller will shed light on Natasha Romanova as a superhero while she “confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises.”
According to the film and television studio, Black Widow, “pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.”
Below you will enjoy the outfits from her upcoming movie, her original costume, and as if it wasn’t enough, her recently released “hooded outfit” from the ongoing comic run.
Black Widow’s most iconic outfits, power, abilities, notable enemies, and villains
Master Assassin — Trained in assassination techniques from an early age, Black Widow advanced to become the KGB’s deadliest assassin and eliminated numerous enemies.
Master Martial Artist — Black Widow is trained in various martial arts forms and can hold her own against skilled fighters, like Wolverine, Winter Soldier, Elektra, and Punisher.
Super-Serum — Thanks to a Soviet version of Super-Soldier serum, Black Widow possesses increased reflexes, durability, and agility. She also heals five times faster than the average human, with little to no scarring.
Weapons Expert — Black Widow is an excellent marksman and is experienced with most small arms weapons. Her weapon of choice is often her Widow’s Bite gauntlets, which fire electro-energy blasts capable of stunning most superheroes.
Red Guardian (Alexi Shostakov) — The former husband of Black Widow, Alexi Shostakov, was an acclaimed test pilot before becoming the Red Guardian and receiving the Super-Soldier serum. The serum gave him many of the same abilities bestowed upon Captain America. Red Guardian battled Black Widow and the Avengers numerous times.
Yelena Belova — Like Natasha, Yelena Belova was chosen to undergo the Black Widow training at the Red Room facility. She possesses the same training and skills, even beating Natasha’s high marks at the facility. Following her training, Yelena was selected as Natasha’s replacement as Black Widow. Yelena believes herself to be the rightful successor to the Black Widow title and often attempts to eliminate Natasha to prove her dominance.
Taskmaster — While Taskmaster and Black Widow have not crossed paths in the comics previously, he is her foe in the upcoming movie. It is not fully clear why Taskmaster is Black Widow’s enemy yet; however, some things are already known. Taskmaster possesses photographic reflexes, which allow him to mimic the fighting styles of any superhero he chooses. This skill can be done without prior practice and after watching them a single time, making him a formidable foe. Taskmaster has studied countless superheroes and villains’ fighting skills in his lifetime and will often predict their next moves during fights.
After so many pushed-backs, everyone just wants at least a glimpse of what’s coming, including Tom Holland. According to We Got This Covered, he admitted in a recent interview that nobody from the studio has let him see Black Widow yet. “We’ve been pestering Marvel for weeks to see if they’ll set up a screening for Black Widow for us, but they haven’t. If you’re watching, Marvel sorts it out because we want to watch,” Holland said.
