David Beckham is back! This time as the producer of a new series that tells the story of the rivalry between Adidas and Puma.

The retired soccer star will produce the documentary style mini series World War Shoe with his production company Studio 99, teaming up with Boat Rocker Studios and Matador Content to create the new film.

Described as a three-part feature, the film will describe the events that caused the feud between the two popular brands.

Owned by the Dassler Brothers, Beckham will give the viewers an insight into the four-decade fight that involved legal battles and world-known athletes, amid the success of the two fashion emporiums.

While Adi Dassler founded Adidas, Rudi Dassler started Puma, becoming the biggest brands of sportswear and lifestyle.

Also described as “a dramatic and compelling tale,” the storyline is expected to “resonate with so many people globally.”

The worldwide popularity of the two brands started in Germany in 1924, first known as The Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory.

The family company was founded in their mother’s kitchen and found great success in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, and the Summer Olympics in 1936.

However the situation that caused the 40-year fight took place during World War Two, driving the two brothers apart completely in 1948.

Beckham launched his production studio in 2019 with his long-term manager David Gardner, with the purpose of exploring interesting topics, such as sports, fashion and travel.
