Just in time for the biggest night in Latin music — the Latin GRAMMYs — J Balvin and McDonald’s join forces to bring buenas vibras and drop a new musical collaboration called “Dorado.” The song celebrates the unshakeable optimism of the Latinx community, and it is inspired by Balvin’s Colores album and McDonald’s Golden Arches. The soundtrack features a reggaetón beat and motivational lyrics that pay homage to Latinos’ feel-good mindset (“porque dónde hay un Latino hay fiesta”/ “because where there is a Latino, there is a party”) and speak to being proud of one’s heritage (“gracias mamá por hacerme Latino”/ “thanks mom, for making me Latino”).
“‘Dorado’ is meant to empower our community and send the message that dreams can come true regardless of the circumstances,” said J Balvin. “We have always faced tough challenges, but through hard work and consistency, we can overcome them. I always tell my fans that we must remain positive and optimistic.”
The jam will make its broadcast debut during a commercial break of the 21st Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, taking place on Nov. 19. Following the show, “Dorado” will exclusively be available to view on the McDonald’s App.
“We are committed to elevating the voices and stories that salute our Latino customers as we continue feeding and fostering the communities we serve,” said Elizabeth Campbell, Senior Director of Cultural Engagement, McDonald’s USA. “Through music, this collaboration perfectly shines a light on the special optimism of the Latino community. We’re excited to bring “Dorado” to our customers in partnership with J Balvin, an international icon known for his positive outlook and creativity.”
HOLA! USA got exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the “Dorado” music video. The film’s setting is a McDonald’s restaurant and stars J Balvin playing different characters representing and honor Latinos from all walks of life, including an abuelito (grandpa), a basketball player and a McDonald’s crew member.
“Dorado” encourages Latinx to keep shining while remaining proud of who they are.
This collaboration follows the success of McDonald’s J Balvin Meal, served at restaurants nationwide last month.
