Mariah Carey's children side-eye her Easter plans—Here's what happened

Mariah Carey might be the Queen of Christmas, but when it comes to Easter, her teens are kind of over it. On Monday, April 21, the singer shared a carousel of festive Easter pics on Instagram, hoping to spread a little pastel cheer. But it wasn't just chocolate bunnies and egg hunts that grabbed attention; it was Mariah's hilarious caption that parents everywhere felt in their souls.

"The greatest gift of being a mom is getting your teenage kids to participate in your Easter hijinks!" Yes, hijinks. Because convincing 13-year-olds to pose with the Easter bunny and pretend they're still hyped about baskets full of candy is basically an Olympic sport at this point.

Moroccan and Monroe Cannon: Slightly Over It, Still Showing Up

In one of the standout pics, Mariah Carey stands front and center with a hot pink Easter basket in hand. Flanking her are twins, Moroccan and Monroe, looking just enthused enough to get through the photo op. The bunny and baskets are there, and the teens are clearly doing it for mom. 

The next slide shows the twins digging into their baskets and checking out their goodies (because, let's be real, even teens won't turn down candy if it's already in front of them). They might not have begged to dye eggs, but the holiday spirit made at least a brief cameo.

Mariah, on the other hand, was in full glam Easter mode. She posted another shot featuring her alone, looking fabulously festive in a pink rhinestone skirt set, fluffy pink shoes, and her signature diva sunnies, a bright pink Gucci pair, of course. She even accessorized with a coordinating Easter basket.

The Easter Bunny Had a Role, Too

The Easter bunny got a solid cameo in the photo dump, appearing around Carey's home in various spots. There was a shot of Mariah and the bunny peeking out her front door, another of her greeting it in the driveway, and yes, the bunny even made the group photo with the twins. 

The Twitch Cameo

This isn't the first time Carey's teens have had to deal with a classic mom pop-in. Earlier this month, on April 3, Mariah casually strolled into Moroccan's Twitch livestream with Monroe in tow.

He was about 10 minutes into playing when viewers heard him talking to someone off-screen. A second later, he muted the mic. When he came back, the moment was gold.

"Sorry chat, my mom is here."

Teenagers Being Teenagers—and Mariah Being Mariah

At the end of the day, Mariah's Easter update was relatable in the best way. Sure, she's a glam icon, but she's also just a mom trying to keep the holiday spirit alive while her kids slowly age out of bunny ears and basket hunts.
