TIME Magazine's social media pages are flooded with angry Blake Lively haters after they included her on their prestigious annual list. Their 100 World's Most Influential People was revealed on April 16, with women like Serena Williams, Simone Biles, Scarlett Johansson, Kristen Bell, Rashida Jones, Nikki Glaser, Bobbi Brown, and more, but once people found out the This is Us star made the cut, people rushed to any platform they could to yell at the magazine.

Blake Lively shares her excitement

Lively was proud to make the list, sharing photos from the magazine. "It’s an honor to be acknowledged on the @time 100 list for 2025," she wrote in the caption, saying she was proud to be written about by Sherrilyn Ifill.

"Her work has shaped our nation. WHO SHE IS - as a human, woman, mother, leader, fighter, healer, empath, risk taker, and dream maker- has shaped my heart and also my stamina to never stop believing in a future that’s better and safer for everyone." Lively continued.

The backlash

Lively has her comments limited, but her haters found other places to make their voices heard, including Ifill's Instagram. And they aren't just because of the Justin Baldoni situation. Many of the points people are making are because of her wedding, which was held at a plantation.

"With all due respect, Ms. Ifill—this was a betrayal. You chose to celebrate Blake Lively—a woman who hosted her wedding on a plantation where Black people were once enslaved and brutalized—as one of TIME’s Most Influential People of 2025," reads one of the top-liked comments on her page. "You, a civil rights icon, lent your name, your credibility, and your voice to rehabilitate hers. Six years after the backlash, and six years too late, she made a $1M donation to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund—a check written from a guilty conscience, not a changed heart," it continued.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively

TIME's Instagram is flooded with hate, too. Photos of other people they posted that made the list have comments that have nothing to do with them. The comments on Ed Sheeran and Demi Moore's post are along the lines of, "How much did Blake lively and Ryan Reynolds pay you for that?????" "Blake lively? Seriously? For influencing the bad way? Congratulations. You don’t expect people to take you seriously anymore. Your nominations and winners can be bought," "TIME must have gotten a bunch of money or favors, NO ONE agrees with the Blake Lively pick. Mainstream media’s influence on regular people is over," "Blake Plantation Barbie Lively?! This foolishness is why people don’t trust “legacy” media. SMH. Hope the check cleared," and "It's so sad that once again, Blake Lively spoils the recognition the others deserve by inserting herself into this list. You can't convince me otherwise," are among some of the comments.

Yikes.
