The retired tennis star joined other sports and entertainment icons as they honored King, who became the first woman to receive a star under the new sports entertainment category at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Sharapova joined the ceremony alongside various notorious stars, including Jaime Lee Curtis and Magic Johnson. She wore a maroon maxi dress and styled her brunette hair straight, with it sitting below her shoulders.

Johnson gave a brief speech, discussing his relationship with King and why he admired her so much. “You always fight for what’s right,” he said. “You lend your platform and your voice and your time and your money to bring about change.”
In her speech, King acknowledged the historic part of the recognition, sharing how honored she was to be the first woman to be recognized in the sports entertainment category. "The important thing is, I don’t want to be the last one,” she said.
