Emergency responders swiftly arrived to confront the unfolding tragedy. As of the latest reports, the collapse has resulted in at least 58 fatalities and 160 injuries. In addition to Rubby Pérez, CDN 37 confirmed that among the deceased are notable figures such as Nelsy Milagros Cruz Martínez, governor of Montecristi and sister to MLB star Nelson Cruz, and former MLB pitcher Octavio Dotel. The Dominican Republic is reeling from the loss of these prominent individuals and the many fans who perished.
