After an eight-year battle with cancer, Guillermo 'Memo' del Bosque has passed away at the age of 64. His family confirmed the heartbreaking news this Monday through a statement posted on Instagram—written in first person by Memo himself, who knew it was time to say goodbye. The emotional letter touched fans and friends across the industry, who quickly filled social media with messages of love, admiration, and respect.
© Getty"Today I want to share that I’ve reached the end of my life," Memo wrote. "Cancer was a brutal fight, one I gave everything I had, but God has decided this disease will no longer hurt me." Bosque was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2017 and underwent chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. He went into remission in 2020 but announced last month it had returned. He went on to thank God for the years he was given after his diagnosis and for the time he got to spend with his children, his wife Vica Andrade, and his entire family.
© GettyIn the farewell message, Memo also opened up about his faith, the strength he drew from his friends "who never left", and the gratitude he felt for every experience. "It was a long journey of experiences and emotions that I am grateful to have lived and shared with each one of you," he continued.
"Now I have finished the fight, my struggle is over, and now I am a new being who rejoices in the presence of its creator. The earth sings the sky worships, and all shout that you are holy, my Lord. With love, Memo del Bosque (1961-2025)," it concluded. His family wrote in the caption, "Lots of love to the whole family. Enjoy your true awakening, Memo — we’re really going to miss you here on Earth. Thank you for everything!!"

I hug you and love you all the way to the stars.’”

In a 2020 interview on the morning show Hoy, he said he leaned on three things: his faith in God, the love of his people, and his will to live. “First, holding onto God. Second, the love of the people you care about—Vica, my kids, my friends who prayed. Third, the will to live.” Throughout his fight, his Instagram became a place of reflection, filled with gratitude and profound spiritual messages.
