Denise Richards is thankful for her ex-husband Charlie Sheen's support. The 54-year-old actress and the 59-year-old actor married in 2002, separated in 2005 while she was pregnant with the couple's second child, Lola, now 19, and divorced in 2006.
Despite "many things" causing the "toxic" marriage to break down, Denise - who also has 20-year-old daughter Sami with Charlie - insists the former 'Two and a Half Men' star is still "very much a part" of her family and he even makes an appearance in her new Bravo fly-on-the-wall TV series 'Denise Richards and Her Wild Things'.
Speaking about Charlie in an interview with Collider.com, she said: "He's very supportive, and people will see him. He appears on the show, and I'm glad he did because the show is about our family."
"Charlie is very much a part of our family, and I think it's important for us to support our daughters. And he did, and I think it's great."
The 'Wild Things' star's reality show gives fans a glimpse into her and her family's life, and she readily admits she cannot imagine what it was like for Lola and Sami to have grown up with their mom and dad being so famous.
However, Denise is now so pleased that their girls can have their voices heard now that they are adults. Denise, now married to 'Dirty Hands' actor Aaron Phypers - said: "I grew up very differently. But for them, that's their normal.
"And I also think that this was such a great opportunity for them because they always have been, you know, Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards' daughters, and it's great that they're now.
"Sami and Lola are adults, and they're able to have their own voice and have people see them as, you know, Sami and Lola.
"And I love that they have that opportunity, and they have this wonderful platform for people to get to know who they are." Like Sami and Lola, Denise has another daughter called Eloise Richards, who she adopted in May 2011.
The TV personality has shared much of her best advice with her three children, and she has learnt many things from them over the years - particularly their strength.
When asked what has been the best bit of advice or something she has learnt from them, Denise admitted: "I wish that I had the confidence, and I was secure like they are when I was their age."
"When I was their age, I was so insecure, I was so naïve, and they are much more; they're very strong young girls. Eloise, too; she's 13."
"But to see my older girls being young women and adults, I was definitely much more naïve and insecure than they are, so I'm very proud of them." 'Denise Richards and Her Wild Things' is available to watch and stream now on Bravo.
