Nicole Kidman might have found her next pet. The 57-year-old icon recently discovered the charm of Sphynx cats, aka hairless cats, and she can’t get them out of her mind. They've quickly become her latest obsession.
In her latest thriller Holland, which is now streaming, Kidman plays a Michigan schoolteacher and homemaker who becomes fixated on investigating her suspicious husband, played by Matthew Macfadyen.
But off-screen, it’s hairless cats that have captured her attention. “I love hairless cats. I just love them,” she told PEOPLE when asked about her non-work-related obsession.
The Oscar winner went down a catastic internet rabbit hole and fell in love. While she and her husband, Keith Urban, already share three cats, they might be adding another to their family. “I did it last night, actually. I’ve decided — we already have three cats — but I’d really like a hairless cat,” she said.
Her Succession co-star Macfadyen, 50, chimed in with a hilarious fact: "They're also called scrotum cats, I’ve heard. They're quite startling." Defending her future feline, Kidman responded, "Hairless cats take offense to that!" She went on to call them "very yummy" and "I think very pretty, but that might just be me." She admitted she was going "gaga" over them, adding, "So one might be in my future."
What to know about Sphynxs
While Sphynx cats are undeniably beautiful, they do require special care. If you're considering adding one of these adorable, alien-looking cuties to your family, it’s best to get them from a reputable breeder or try to rescue one. Keep in mind that they need more maintenance, more food, and can be prone to certain health problems. They also don't live as long as most domestic house cats, so you might find yourself with a broken heart sooner than you wished.
