Do kids and luxury handbags mix? Well, it depends on your perspective. Lately, Cardi B is learning the hard way after the rapper's 6-year-old daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, just took a black marker to her mom's $60,000 Hermès Kelly bag, and the damage is not that bad at all.
In a since-expired Instagram Story posted on Sunday, March 23, Cardi, 32, showed off the aftermath, zooming in on the bag's exotic crocodile skin exterior. "We spent $60,000 on this purse," she said, clearly in shock. "Look what my daughter did to my purse. Look what my daughter did to my purse. Look what my daughter did to my f------ purse."
As she brought the camera closer, fans got a better look—a heart drawn in black marker right on the front flap. "Look…" she sighed, probably wondering if parenting insurance is a thing.
Can It Be Saved?
Thankfully, all hope isn't lost. Hermès offers repair services, so Cardi's prized purse might live to see another day. But, of course, it won't be cheap.
And let's be honest—if anyone has an impressive backup collection, it's Cardi. Back in October, she gave fans a peek into her luxury handbag closet, where she keeps an army of Hermès beauties, including two Birkins in dark crimson red and gray. So, while the sting of a $60K doodle hurts, she's not precisely purse-less.
Kulture's Luxe Life
This isn't the first time Cardi's daughter has been around high-end fashion. The little one has her designer collection, including an $830 Versace snowsuit, $80,000 worth of jewelry, and her very own hot-pink Hermès Birkin bag (a second-birthday gift, no less). So, to Kulture, a Kelly bag might just be another canvas.
But Cardi isn't letting all this luxury go to her kids' heads. In a 2022 interview with Vogue Singapore, she clarified that she wants her children to stay grounded. "They need to know to never feel comfortable. Don't ever feel like, 'I'm going to get it because I'm Cardi and Offset's kid,'" she said, explaining that her kids might never experience struggle the way she did but should still understand hard work.
"Even though my kids are well-off, I want them to know that when you work for things and achieve it, it's more respected—especially when people see that you bust your a-- for it," she added.
For now, we need to wait to see if this will be the last time Kulture gets creative with one of Cardi's handbags. Probably not. But at least now, she might think twice before picking up a marker near Mom's luxury stash. Then again, maybe Cardi should start storing her Hermès collection under lock and key.
