Jenna Ortega joins Dua Lipa's hair trend: 'It’s sultry and kind of vampy'

For her latest musical era, Dua Lipa decided to go through a hair transformation, signifying a departure from her signature brunette hair and aligning with her musical reinvention. While the singer is now back to her dark hair, it seems like she is still on the mood board of many other stars, inspiring other style transformations.

Most recently, it was none other than Jenna Ortega who decided to go for a similar red hue. The star's change seems to be tied to her latest film role, 'Death of a Unicorn,' reflecting a deepened commitment to her craft and a fun moment, as she continued to play with new ensembles and bold looks.

It would be no surprise if more stars decide to join the subtle trend, as it gives a red hue to dark hair. “This feels like entering the red zone without being too committed,” hairstylist Juliana Ohlmeyer previously told Bustle about the trend. “It’s sultry and kind of vampy, because it is a deep, glossy brunette, but you see true violet and cherry undertones in the right light," she detailed to the publication.

Dua Lipa marked the bold change with the release of her track 'Houdini.' The singer herself teased a "red hot" phase, promising "a lot of fun things" to come at the time, and showcasing the hairstyle at the 2024 Grammys and other special appearances.

Jenna debuted her red hair at the premiere of her film at SXSW in Austin, Texas, wearing a glen plaid suit from Oscar de la Renta‘s fall 2025 collection, and matching the hairstyle with a burgundy button-up and matching satin tie. The star accessorized with diamond-encrusted earrings by Kendra Scott. Her stylist Enrique Melendez dressed her for the occasion.

She also wore a sleep updo with side bangs and rocked a shimmery makeup look featuring a red lip that matched the outfit and the hair perfectly.
