Eva Longoria to receive the prestigious PLATINO Honorary Award for her trailblazing career 

The 50-year-old icon has made an everlasting impact in TV and film

The 12th edition of the Platino Awards is just around the corner, April 27, 2025, at the Palacio Municipal IFEMA Madrid. The awards recognize the best of Ibero-American Cinema and Audiovisuals, and this year, they are honoring one incredible and fierce Latina: Eva Longoria.

Platino Awards revealed on Wednesday that Longoria will receive the Honorary PLATINO Award, recognizing her remarkable career and dedication to elevating Latin representation in Hollywood. 

The Mexican-American icon is a household name thanks to Desperate Housewives, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Tierra de Mujeres. Longoria has built a multifaceted career as an actress, director, and producer. Her feature film directorial debut with Flamin’ Hot became Searchlight Pictures’ most-watched streaming premiere and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

The powerful and fierce Latina has had an incredible career

With her production company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, Longoria has been involved in numerous productions, including the ABC series Grand Hotel, starring Academy Award nominee Demián Bichir and Roselyn Sánchez

She has explored her cultural roots in the CNN docuseries Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico and its upcoming follow-up Searching for Spain.

Beyond Hollywood, Longoria is a fierce advocate for immigrant and civil rights and women’s empowerment. With over two decades of breaking barriers, she’s not only cemented her place in the industry but also paved the way for future Latina storytellers.

With this honor, she joins past recipients like Benicio del Toro, Carmen Maura, Diego Luna, and Antonio Banderas

The Platino Awards were created by EGEDA (Management Entity of Audiovisual Producers‘ Rights) and FIPCA (Ibero-American Federation of Cinematographic and Audiovisual Producers), with the support of Ibero-American film academies and institutes. Their mission is to promote, disseminate, and foster a closer connection to Ibero-American culture and cinematography.

Over the years, the awards have been hosted in Panama, Spain, Uruguay, and Mexico. This year’s ceremony will feature 23 awards alongside the prestigious PLATINO Honorary Award.
