Selena Gomez is exchanging compliments with one of Hollywood's biggest legends. The singer and actress has shared a video for her new song "Sunset Blvd," which she made alongside her fiance Benny Blanco as a part of their first joint record.
Gomez shared the video on her social media, which features a reference to Francis Ford Coppola's 1982 musical "One from the Heart." The tribute brought some joy to Coppola, who left a comment in the video.
“Thank you, dear Selena Gomez for including an influence from an old grandpa’s work in your music video ‘Sunset Blvd,'” Coppola wrote. “It’s wonderful to see an homage from ‘One From The Heart’ live again in your beautiful and capable talent.”
Gomez replied, writing, “Thank you Francis Ford Coppola for being an inspiration to us all!”
Coppola is one of Hollywood's most iconic directors, helping to establish the industry as the dominating force in entertainment in the '70s, when he directed "The Godfather" trilogy and "Apocalypse Now." While Coppola continues to make films, last year releasing "Megalopolis," his early work remains incredibly impactful.
Gomez's video shows her as a glamorous while Blanco appears as a tiny figure in the corner, a scene that was inspired by Coppola's film, which features a scene where Nastassja Kinski sings to a tiny Frederic Forrest. You can check out the video in full below.
More details about Gomez and Blanco's album
Earlier this year, Gomez and Blanco announced that they were partnering up for their first album together, titled, "I Said I Love You First." The pair have shared that they're enjoying their engagement and using it as fuel for their music, something that has them focused on the present.
"Also, I genuinely feel like this is such a special time that we get to apply it to this album and really just pour our heart into it, and completely translate what we feel and bring it to the world. That’s my main focus right now, at least," said Gomez to Rolling Stone.
