Shakira is finally kicking off her tour in Mexico. The Colombian artist kicked off her "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" tour earlier this year, stopping through multiple countries in South America, including Brazil and Colombia. She recently performed in Monterrey and will soon be singing in Guadalajara and Mexico City. In a recent confession shared over social media, Shakira made it clear just how much she loves her Mexican fans and the special connection she feels with the country.
Shakira shared a post on Instagram, showing various photos of herself in Mexico as she enjoys some of what the country has to offer. She shared various images of presents that were gifted to her by fans, including a sculpture of a wolf, an animal that Shakira has embraced as her iconography.
The photos also showed her children, Milan and Sasha, in a photo with Shakira as the three wore wrestler masks. She wrapped up the post with a photo of herself holding up a black t-shirt that reads "Mexican at heart."
Shakira echoed that feeling in her post's caption, adding a heart and a Mexican flag emoji.
Is Shakira performing with mariachi?
Ever since Shakira arrived in Mexico, fans have speculated on some of the surprises for her shows in the country. A lot expect some mariachis to perform onstage with her.
In 2000, at her MTV Unplugged concert, Shakira performed a version of her song "Ciega, Sordomuda" with mariachi, becoming one of her most famous performances. Many Mexican fans hope she'll recreate that experience for them at some of her shows in Mexico.
While she has yet to be joined by mariachis, the group Mariachi Gama Mil confirmed their participation in some of Shakira's Mexico shows, suggesting that there may be some exciting surprises in store for her remaining performances in Guadalajara and Mexico City.
