Maribel Guardia is going through one of the greatest challenges of her life. This April 9th will be the two-year anniversary of her son's death, Julián Figueroa. Guardia has made her struggle clear with her followers, especially over the past months, when she was separated from her grandson José Julián after having a legal face-off with his mother, Imelda Tuñón, over his custody.

Guardia shared her feelings through her personal Instagram, showing a photo of herself and her son. "My love, today March 9th it's been a year and 11 months since you left on your trip towards a higher plane," read her message.

"Ay Julián, how I miss you."

She continued her message by sharing how vulnerable she feels. "How do I explain my heart this emptiness, this pain? I try to cheat it so I can go on, but this day I always find pieces of my heart strewn about and it takes me a while to pick them up. Come and help me find them. Your loss will never stop hurting me. I love you son, don't ever leave me," she concluded.

Maribel's statements following her separation from her grandson

Guardia presented a statement with the police against her daughter-in-law Imelda Tuñón, claiming that she had endangered the life of her grandson. After a five-week period where Guardia took care of the boy, the courts have determined that Imelda should retain custody of her son.

"I always wanted the boy to stay with his mother, because that's the best place for a son to grow up. If Imelda is okay, the boy will be okay, and that makes me feel at peace. All that matters is the health of the boy. Imelda and I don't matter," she said in a statement.
