Angela Aguilar and her husband Christian Nodal are yet again the subject of media speculation. Various content creators and news outlets have alleged that the pair were expecting their first child and that Aguilar had sought an abortion. The Aguilar family took matters into their own hands, sharing a statement that shuts down all possible speculation.
"Regarding the recent statements shared by influencers, YouTubers, and various media outlets, where they claim that Angela Aguilar had an abortion and received threats from her father Pepe Aguilar," reads the statement, which was published in Spanish on the family's official Instagram account.
"We want to express our deep concern. These claims have no basis in reality and whoever spreads them is obligated to provide proof," continues the statement, emphasizing the importance for the media to be responsible with the information they spread.
"In public life, there are many topics that can be funny or unimportant. To insinuate something of this magnitude is not one of these instances. It's unacceptable," they continued.
The legal repercussions for anyone who spreads this misinformation
The Aguilar family also made it clear that they would be pursuing legal action against those who contribute to spreading the misinformation.
"The distribution of these rumors causes harm to the community and whoever spreads it can expect legal repercussions," reads the statement.
"We encourage content creators and media outlets to act ethically and to consider the impact of their words."
Over the past years, the Aguilar family has come forward in support of Aguilar, who's been the subject of plenty of online discussion.
"I've lived a lot of things in the past three years, from fake rumors to the impact of deepfakes, which was very difficult for me," said Aguilar in an interview with Glamour Mexico.
"I won't say that the comments don't affect me, because that would be inhumane. But what I do say is that they don't define me," she concluded.
