Tiger Woods has plenty of things in common with his daughter. Over the weekend, Woods was photographed supporting and celebrating his daughter Sam as she played and won the high school state finals in Florida.
Sam is a senior at Benjamin School, where she plays for the Buccaneers, the school's soccer team. They defeated the Episcopal School in the FHSAA, with Woods photographed cheering and celebrating in the stands.
Woods was photographed wearing a baseball cap and an FHSAA soccer state championships T-shirt, high-fiving the other parents in the stands. A video shows the moment when Sam's team is pronounced as the winners, with Woods smiling widely and celebrating with those around him.
According to the New York Post, Sam is a key part of the team's defense and played a pivotal role in securing the win. "The defense really led the team all year,” said the team's head coach.
“It was a matter of keeping the door shut and not letting them score and knowing we would get one, maybe two. So it was really the stalwart defense leading the way with Emily being in goal and Sam being that senior in the back just settling everything.”
Sam will be attending Stanford University in the fall.
Woods' has long encouraged sports for his kids
Woods is the father of Sam and Charlie, which he shares with his ex-wife Elin Nordegen.
“They’re keen into soccer,” he said in an interview with Golf Magazine. “If they want to play golf, that’s great. If they don’t, that’s fine, too. As long as they have a good time playing sports.”
“I get such a big kick out of watching them compete and play,” Tiger said. “It’s so much fun to see how happy and passionate they are about soccer.”
