Lizzo and her longtime love, Myke Wright, just made a rare public appearance and did it in style. The couple stepped out for date night at Vanity Fair's annual Oscars after-party on Sunday, March 2, looking effortlessly chic.
Lizzo, 36, wore a strapless black gown with a sheer skirt, while Wright, a comedian and actor, kept it cool in a black shirt paired with a gray jacket and pants. This was the first time they'd been seen together in a while, making their night out even more special.
Lizzo's "Weight Release" Journey
Lizzo's stunning look comes just two months after she hit her "weight release goal," a term she's embraced as part of her holistic approach to health. Back in January, she shared the milestone with fans on Instagram.
"I did it," she wrote. "Today when I stepped on my scale, I reached my weight release goal. I haven't seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to. Time for new goals!"
Lizzo has shared about her weight loss journey, saying that it's been a progressive experience. "I've been methodical, losing weight very slowly," she said in an interview with the New York Times in 2024. The idea of body positivity has moved away from the antiquated mainstream conception," she said of her product line. "It's evolved into body neutrality."
Lizzo said that, at times, she has a challenging relationship with her body, a feeling that many people can empathize with. "I'm not going to lie and say I love my body every day," she said. "The bottom line is the way you feel about your body changes every single day. "There are some days I adore my body, and others when I don't feel completely positive."
A Love That's Built to Last
Lizzo and Wright have been linked since 2021, but their history goes way back. They first met in 2016 while co-hosting "Wonderland" on MTV, though the romance didn't immediately spark. They finally debuted on the red carpet in June 2022 at the premiere of "Watch Out for the Big Grrrls," Lizzo's Amazon Prime Video series.
Lizzo has never been shy about her feelings for Wright. In a 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, she called him "the love of my life" and opened up about why monogamy works for her. "People fight for monogamy like they pray to it every day. I am not a polyamorous person, I'm not in love with multiple partners. That is not me," she said. "He's the love of my life. We are life mates."
So, is marriage in their future? When Howard Stern asked her that same year, Lizzo gave a refreshingly honest answer: "There's nobody else I'm going to be with for the rest of my life. "
Whether or not a wedding happens, Lizzo and Myke Wright are in it for the long haul.
