Karla Sofía Gascón is feeling grateful after attending the 2025 Oscars. The Spanish actress, who competed for the coveted Best Actress award, which went to Mikey Madison for 'Anora,' shared a message directed to the academy, stating that it had been an entertaining ceremony, and mentioned Conan O'Brien's comments on her controversy.
The 'Emilia Perez' actress took to social media to share her thoughts, writing a lengthy message in Spanish. "Thanks to the members of @theacademy for the nomination as best leading actress, for the invitation to the gala; I really liked it, very entertaining and funny," she wrote.
Karla continued, "Especially its fabulous host Jimmy Kimmel, he is fantastic, every day he looks more like the great Conan O’Brien," she added, referring to Conan's joke on stage. “Karla, if you’re going to tweet about the Oscars, remember, my name is Jimmy Kimmel," the host said during the ceremony.
"I loved hugging so many friends and colleagues on this return," the actress wrote, following her return to award season after her controversy started. "Congratulations to all the winners, especially to [Emilia Pérez Best Supporting Actress] @zoesaldana and [Best Original Song songwriters] @camilleofficiel @clementducol."
"Thank you Emilia Pérez for having taught me so many things," she continued, admitting that she was grateful to the director and to Netflix. While the actress did not walk the red carpet, she did reunite with her co-stars inside the theater.
What did Conan O'Brien say?
During O'Brien's opening monologue at the long-awaited ceremony, the host mentioned Karla's controversy and poked fun at the media attention caused by her social media activity.
"Little fact for you, Anora uses the 'F' word 479 times. That's three more than the record set by Karla Sofía Gascón's publicist," the host said, before the audience gasped. "You tweeted what?!" Conan said.
"I'm having fun. Karla Sofía Gascón is here tonight," O'Brien continued, with the cameras showing the actress in the audience, blowing a kiss and mouthing the words, "Thank you."
