Colman Domingo and his husband Raul have been together for almost 20 years. The pair, who rarely attend red carpets and events together, met at a drugstore years ago with Domingo sharing his story in an episode of "The Graham Norton Show."
The clip has gone viral again after Domingo's appearance at the Oscars over the weekend, where he was nominated for best actor for his work in the film "Sing Sing." The episode is from 2024 when Domingo was promoting his film "Rustin," which also earned him an Academy Award nomination.
Domingo shares in the clip that he met his husband randomly at a Walgreens, resulting in Raul writing about the encounter on Craigslist's missed connection sections. He shared that he saw a beautiful stranger with long hair and a lip piercing. "I see this guy and we look at each other and I'm like 'Oh my God,'" he said. He shared that he was talking on the phone and the stranger seemed to be arguing with someone, so it didn't feel like the right moment to make an introduction.
"I get off the phone and they walk on down the street, but he keeps looking back. And I wave but he just keeps going."
Three days later, he read about the encounter on Craigslist. "Maybe I'll place one of those missed connections ad," he said. "And I read, 'Saw you outside of Walgreens, Berkley.' He placed an ad for me two hours before that day. I jumped up like 'Are you kidding me? That's me.' He described me with my faux hawk, it was 2005."
Three days later they had their first date. You can check out the full video below.
More details about Domingo's relationship
