George and Amal Clooney look as strong and adorable as ever, despite rumors of trouble in paradise earlier this month. The 63-year-old Hollywood legend and 47-year-old human rights lawyer were photographed on Thursday night during a night out in their new city, New York.
The couple looked fashionable, with Clooney wearing navy blue slacks, a sweater, a sports coat, and turquoise suede loafers.
Amal stayed warm and classy with black pants, pointed boots, a sweater, and a matching long coat. She accessorized with a leather purse and dangling earrings as they made their way down the street with the help of security.
The couple shares 7-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, whom they welcomed in June 2017. After saying "I do" in 2014, they’ve been by each other’s side, supporting each other's ventures. Their latest adventure involves picking up and moving to New York City, where Clooney is making his Broadway debut with Good Night and Good Luck. The two-time Oscar winner has not done a live theater show since 1986, and has admitted that he is very nervous.
While the couple is very private when it comes to their children, Clooney shared an update on how they are doing on the East Coast, saying on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, “They love New York!”
The city is familiar to Amal, who went to NYU. “I mean, come on, how do you not love this, it’s New York City,” he said, adding, “They love being here.” “Actually, a play is kind of a good schedule because, you know, you’re working at night, you get to see the kids during the day, so it’s OK,” he continued.
Amid his press tour, Clooney has shared some rare details about his relationship. In an interview with The New York Times, he admitted, “I didn’t really think I’d have much of a chance with her because I was 17 years older, and she seemed to have everything she needed.”
He said when he turned 60, he talked to her about their lives and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life: “I said, ‘Look, I can still play full-court basketball. I can still run around. I can still do pretty much everything I did when I was 30. But in 30 years, I’m 90,” he shared.
For Clooney, he wants to make sure he’s savoring every moment with her and their kids. “I told Amal, ‘We have to focus on the next 20, 25 years of making sure that we’re jamming in everything we can,’” Clooney continued. “Not just work, because no one at the end of their life goes, ‘God, I wish I worked more.’”
The play is an adaptation of one of his biggest films. Clooney starred in, co-wrote, and directed the 2005 political drama about the real-life conflict between CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow, who took on Senator Joseph McCarthy during the 1950s Red Scare—a period of intense anti-communist hysteria and paranoia in the United States.
Previews begin on Broadway in March, with the Broadway show opening on April 3.
