Michelle Trachtenberg has sadly passed away at the age of 39. The Hollywood actress, best known for her roles in 'Gossip Girl,' ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer,’ and 'Europtrip' has died, as revealed by police sources to The Post.
The actress was found around 8 a.m. Wednesday at One Columbus Place, a 51-store luxury apartment complex on Central Park South, the sources told the publication. It was also reported that her death is not being investigated as suspicious.
Born in New York City on Oct. 11, 1985, Michelle's first role was Nona F. Mecklenberg in the 1990s Nickelodeon series 'The Adventures of Pete and Pete.' Michelle was known for her breakout role in 'Harriet the Spy' and went on to star in 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.'
Fans of the actress also remember her role as Georgina Sparks in 'Gossip Girl,' where she starred alongside Leighton Meester and Blake Lively. Last year, the actress shared photos online that sparked concerns about her health, with many commenting on her appearance.
“Explain to me how I look sick," Michelle shared on social media to the "haters," adding, “Did you lose a calendar and not realize I’m not 14. I’m 38. How sad for you to leave such a comment.”
“I’ve received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery I am happy and healthy. Check yourself haters," she wrote at the time.
Michelle started her career in the entertainment industry at a very young age, the actress talked to the Chicago Tribune in 1996 about how her professional path started when she was still a toddler. "I saw a friend of mine in a commercial," she recalled, "and walked over to my mom and said, 'Mommy, I want to be on TV.'"
The star's family supported her passion and the actress found success in the acting world. "I'm very lucky, I didn't really have pitfalls," she said in an interview with HuffPost Live. "First of all, I was raised in a loving and strict way," she added. "I've never done a drug in my life and it's not something I think about," she explained. "Why would I want to do something to mess it up, to take it all away?"
