Nicole Kidman is opening up about one of the most notorious chapters in her life. The Australian actress has shed a light on her relationship and marriage with Tom Cruise, whom she was with for over a decade.
In an interview with Harper's Bazaar Spain, Kidman revealed that one of the reasons why the marriage ended was due to her age. "I was young. I think I contributed to it," she said.
Kidman revealed she learned a lot from the divorce and that the relationship had impacted her life. "Maybe I've become more fearful, but I always try to be as open as possible," she said. "I simply prefer to live in the world that way."
She shared that while she was wary, she opened her heart to love, resulting in her relationship with Keith Urban, with whom she shares two daughters: Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
Kidman has been more open about her relationship with Cruise in recent years
Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman married in 1990 and remained together for over a decade, working on various projects together and adopting two kids: Bella and Connor.
While Kidman rarely addresses the relationship, in recent years she's grown more open to discussing it. In an interview from last year with The Los Angeles Times, Kidman discussed the film "Eyes Wide Shut," which starred her and Cruise while they were married.
She revealed that while the film was scheduled to shoot for six months, the process lasted two years. “I would have stayed a third year,” said Kidman, sharing her fond memories of the experience. “Does that mean I’m crazy?”
Kidman shared that the film's director, Stanley Kubrick, asked her and Cruise questions about their relationship, which likely impacted their characters on the film, who were also married.
"I suppose he was mining it. There were ideas he was interested in. He’d ask a lot of questions. But he had a strong sense of the story he was telling," she shared.
