gKarla Sofía Gascón has been traveling and spending time with friends. Her most recent appearance follows a controversial awards season where she took a step back despite being a nominee for her work in "Emilia Perez," this year's most nominated film at the Oscars.
Gascón was photographed earlier this week in Milan, accompanied by various of her filmmaker friends, including the director Stefania Rosella Grassi, the producer Melina Arena, and the assistant director Ludovica Lorenzetti.
The group was photographed at the Piazza Duomo, where they took selfies and chatted. For the occasion, Gascón wore jeans, a black top, and a white coat on top.
She wore her hair loose and straight and rounded out the look with boots.
Gascón and her friends were also photographed at a restaurant, with her and her friends sitting in front of a table with different assortments of food.
On this occasion, she opted for a sleeveless lace top.
Gascón's possible Oscars debut
Earlier this week, it was reported that Gascón would be attending the Oscars, where she's nominated for best actress. It's a groundbreaking nomination, with Gascón becoming the first openly trans woman to be nominated for the award.
The news of her Oscars attendance is a marked departure from the start of the year, when Gascón took a step back from all "Emilia Perez" publicity and skipped on awards shows where she was nominated, including the SAG Awards, the Critics Choice, and more.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix will be covering Gascón's travel costs. “I’m not sure how I feel, but I’m grateful to be back,” said Gascón.
“I’m grateful to all those who’ve believed in me — to Netflix, the production company and my colleagues. We can close this beautiful and difficult path that began three years ago.”
