The 2024 SAG Awards unfolded Sunday night at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, celebrating the year’s most outstanding performances in film and television. As one of the final major events before the Oscars on March 2, the evening brought together some of Hollywood’s most celebrated talents. Among them was Spanish actress Úrsula Corberó, making her much-anticipated debut at the prestigious ceremony—a milestone in her expanding Hollywood career.
Corberó first rose to fame in the 2008 series Física o Química, which recently returned with a reboot. Since then, the Catalan star has achieved international success, thanks to her standout performances in La Casa de Papel and El Cuerpo en Llamas. More recently, she has made inroads in the U.S. market, starring in Chacal, a ten-episode thriller based on The Day of the Jackal, alongside Eddie Redmayne.
Redmayne, nominated for his role in Chacal, was among the evening’s honorees, bringing the cast together to celebrate. Corberó made a striking red carpet debut in a wedding-inspired mini dress by Jonathan Anderson, the creative director of Loewe. The elegant design featured long sleeves, a fitted bodice, and a voluminous pleated skirt. Embellished with delicate round sequins, the fabric shimmered with a soft satin-like sheen, blending vintage charm with a modern silhouette.
True to her bold fashion sense, Corberó paired the dress with statement footwear from Loewe, a brand she has a close partnership with and recently fronted a campaign for. She opted for the Toy model—a sculptural, round-toed pump crafted from goat leather, featuring a petal-shaped toe and a heel resembling a cup base, retailing for 900 euros. This avant-garde choice aligns with her signature daring footwear moments, following her previous viral looks, including furry sandals that made waves in the fashion world.
Speaking to Variety, Corberó shared her excitement: “These are my first awards in the United States, and it’s incredibly exciting. I woke up at six in the morning because I was a bit jet-lagged.” She also confessed to some pre-show nerves, as Redmayne had asked her to accept the award on his behalf if he won. “I asked him what he wanted me to say on stage, but he told me not to prepare anything since he probably wouldn’t win. Now I’m feeling a bit nervous,” she laughed.
On the red carpet, Corberó posed alongside her Chacal co-stars, including Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, and fellow Spaniard Jon Arias, the son of actors Imanol Arias and Pastora Vega. With her first-ever SAG Awards appearance, Corberó cemented her status as a rising Hollywood force, effortlessly blending Spanish elegance with contemporary high fashion.
