George Clooney has shared his thoughts on Donald Trump's presidency. The filmmaker and actor has long been a proponent for Democrat causes, and was one of the loudest voices to call on then-President Joe Biden to exit the 2024 race.
Clooney was featured on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," where he discussed his upcoming Broadway show and his thoughts on politics, including the outcome of the most recent elections.
He illustrated his case with an example of a conversation between himself and his 7-year-old son Alexander, an avid chess player. When his son loses, "He gets upset," said Clooney.
"And I tell him, listen, you shake the guy's hand, you say, 'Good game, I'll get you next time.'"
"You've got to live by those rules, which is, 'Alright, good. Good for you. Go. I hope you do well, because our country needs it, and then we'll meet you in three-and-a-half years and see where we go next.'"
Clooney shared that he comes from a Democratic family from Kentucky, and has learned to lose over the years. "It didn't work out," Clooney concluded.
"That's what happens. It's part of democracy. There's people who agree, and people who disagree, and most of us still like each other, and we're all going to get through it."

Clooney prepares for his Broadway debut
After a career in film and television and directing various award-winning projects, Clooney is taking on a brand new challenge: Broadway. He's starring in "Good Night, and Good Luck," an adaptation of the film of the same name, which he directed and co-wrote in 2005.
The play is based on the real-life tensions between journalist Edward R. Murrow and U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy, highlighting the importance of journalistic integrity when reporting on the government.
Clooney will play the role of Murrow. “I am honored, after all these years, to be coming back to the stage and especially, to Broadway, the art form and the venue that every actor aspires to,” he said to Playbill.
Performances for "Good Night, and Good Luck" kick off this March 12, with shows scheduled through June.
