For Khloé Kardashian, her ex-husband Lamar Odom will always be the "right person", but unfortunately, they are not back together because their relationship was at the "wrong time." After all, that's exactly what she said following a fan's tearful reaction to the latest episode of "The Kardashians," which saw her come face-to-face with the former NBA player for the first time since their 2016 divorce.
"Why was this reunion so hard to watch?" the fan wrote on TikTok. "You can tell he still loves her and regrets not having a family with her. This is the literal proof of right person, wrong time." Khloé agreed, replying in the comments section, "Right person, wrong time for sure."
The Emotional Reunion
During their long-awaited reunion, Khloé and Lamar reflected on their past and what led to their split. For Khloé, Lamar's continued struggles with addiction—even after his 2015 overdose—made it impossible to continue their marriage. "I took you through a lot," Lamar told her during their heart-to-heart. "I love you for trying your hardest with me." But for Khloé, his words weren't enough.
"I don't have a lot of emotions for this meeting," she admitted in a confessional. "I have dealt with so much trauma in this relationship. For years, this was the love of my life. To learn how to unlove someone, to have to go through all that, it's almost like a death."
She continued, "I had to break contact with him because Lamar was repeating some of the same behaviors that I just couldn't stand for. I had to learn the hard way that I can't save anyone in that position. I almost lost myself—and I probably did at some points—trying to save him."
Remember when Koko pretended to have fertility issues? It was to protect Lamar, who couldn't have kids because he was abusing substances.
Closing the Chapter
The past may be in the rearview mirror for Khloé, but Lamar's emotional journey remains uncertain. Their reunion wasn't about rekindling their relationship; it was about closure. Khloé, 40, took this step after nearly a decade, choosing to return Lamar's belongings and officially move forward. She kept the meeting secret from her sisters and even Kris Jenner, knowing their emotional involvement might complicate things.
"Lamar was, and is, definitely someone that I was like, the love of my life," she confessed. "I got married when I was 24, and although we got married 30 days after meeting, I loved him with all of my heart and soul."
Still, love wasn't enough to overcome their struggles. "I was very upset. I said to him, 'I'm going to Vegas. You need to be out by Monday. That's it, I'm done.' And I haven't seen Lamar since that day."
Moving Forward
Now, with two children—True, 6, and Tatum, 2—with her ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, Khloé is focused on the future. "I haven't had contact with Lamar in nine years, and I just think it's time to shed as much as I can," she said. "I don't have bad blood. I don't have any blood. There's no feelings. I want him to have his stuff…and that's it. I wish I could just do that and not have a conversation."
For Lamar, the meeting carried a different weight. Seeing Khloé again wasn't just about retrieving his old belongings; it was a step back into a life he once had and lost.
Khloé's ready to move on. Whether Lamar is remains to be seen.
