Lionel Messi's partner, Antonela Roccuzzo, has become one of Miami's biggest socialites. Ever since the couple moved to the US, Roccuzzo has become a fixture among Messi's social circle, spending time with Victoria Beckham, Isabela Grutman, and more.
Roccuzzo is the mother of three boys. A couple of years ago, Messi revealed that they were interested in perhaps getting a daughter and completing their family. Ever since, the media has been speculating on Roccuzzo's pregnancy status. She's finally addressed these claims through a journalist.
Rumors of Roccuzzo's pregnancy hit high gear when the journalist Naiara Vecchio denied that there was a rift between Roccuzzo and Messi. "When it comes to Lionel and Antonela Roccuzzo, I talked to their close circle and they told me they were doing great, in fact, they're looking to have a baby girl," she said in Spanish.
Roccuzzo's humorous response to the pregnancy rumors
These statements convinced many internet dwellers that Roccuzzo was pregnant. The fact that Roccuzzo has been posting less on social media and has shared some selfies where her body is hidden away only increased their prevalence.
While Roccuzzo has yet to address the rumors directly, she spoke to Angel de Brito, an Argentinean journalist, and set the record straight. "I spoke to Antonela and she told me that the rumor of her pregnancy is fake," wrote Brito on X, accompanying the message with a photo of the Messi family.
"She said that the media has been trying to get her pregnant for the past three years!"
Messi's statement that started it all
In 2023, Messi was featured on the streaming program OLGA, where he discussed his personal life and career. It was there when he let the world know that he and Roccuzzo had discussed the possibility of having a daughter. "We'd like to have a baby again," he said to Migue Granados.
"We're not on the lookout but let's see if a babygirl arrives."
