John Legend and Chrissy Teigen seem to be ready for a new life chapter. The celebrity couple is thinking about moving back to New York City and leaving their West Hollywood mansion where they live with their four children.

The pair moved to Los Angeles in 2022. However, the singer has revealed they have thought about starting over in NYC, following the devastating wildfires that destroyed 23,448 acres and over 16,000 structures.

“Watching TV in the family room, our fears grew. When the Sunset fire began to expand on Jan. 9, the danger felt too close for comfort,” he explained to the Wall Street Journal when asked about the "shock" his family experienced during the fires.

While their home did not suffer any damage, the musician said it was a traumatic experience and they decided to evacuate. “That night, my wife and I gathered our four kids, four dogs, and bearded dragon and drove south to a hotel in Carlsbad," he said to the publication.

“We didn’t return until the following week. Our home was safe, but many weren’t so fortunate, and the threat still looms. The fires were a collective trauma that shook everyone, including our kids,” he declared.

This is not the first time the couple reconsiders their life in Los Angeles and thinks about moving back to New York City. “Chrissy and I have always considered returning to New York, where we once lived," he said.

"We probably will, once our youngest ones grow up a bit," the singer added, explaining that natural disasters in California have played a factor in their decision. “Every time nature shows its wrath, we wonder if it’s time to head back East. Who knows.”

During the interview, the musician said he “feels” for everyone who “lost their homes.” The couple continue to live at their LA home, which is worth just over $6 million.
