A European royal was in New Orleans for the 2025 Super Bowl. Prince Albert of Monaco was seated in the row behind President Donald Trump at the big game on Sunday, Feb. 9. Princess Charlene's husband was photographed behind Gayle Benson, the owner of the New Orleans Saints—who was seated next to President Trump—at the game.
The president and the Prince posed for a photo together while at Caesars Superdome. The Embassy of Monaco shared the picture on X, writing, "H.S.H. Prince Albert II of #Monaco and President Trump @POTUS catch up during Super Bowl week, celebrating their shared love for sports and camaraderie! #SuperBowl #SportsDiplomacy."
President Trump and Prince Albert watched the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles face off on Feb. 9. The latter team is from the city where Albert's late mother, Grace Kelly, was born.
Albert returned to his mother's hometown of Philadelphia back in 2023. It was reported in 2016 that the Prince had purchased his mom’s childhood home. “The house was very beautiful and very special to our family,” Albert told PEOPLE at the time. He also shared that the home was filled with little "moments of being a family.” The Prince said, “The house was very beautiful and very special to our family."
On Sunday, President Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to attend a Super Bowl. Two days after catching up with Prince Albert, the president is set to meet with another royal. The president will be welcoming King Abdullah II of Jordan to the White House on Tuesday, Feb. 11. The Royal Hashemite Court announced on Feb. 2 that the King had accepted an invitation to meet with the president.
The news followed a recent call between the president and the King. The White House revealed on Jan. 25 that the president had a call with the King of Jordan, during which His Majesty congratulated President Trump on his inauguration. According to the White House, "President Trump thanked King Abdullah for his longtime friendship, and the two leaders discussed the importance of regional peace, security, and stability."
King Abdullah was among the royals who congratulated President Trump on his inauguration last month. "Wishing President Donald Trump every success as he commences his second term. Congratulations on your inauguration, Mr. President," His Majesty wrote on X. "We greatly value our partnership with the United States and are committed to working with you towards a more prosperous and peaceful world."
