Jessica Alba has officially filed for divorce from Cash Warren after 17 years of marriage. As we've seen with stars like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, celebrity divorces can be very messy, but it looks like this might be one of the easiest and smoothest separations. Here's everything we know, per TMZ.
Custody of their children
Alba and Warren share three children: daughters Honor, 16, Haven, 13, and son Hayes, 7. They're both asking for joint physical and legal custody.
Was there a prenup?
Alba and Warren tied the knot in 2008, and their financial situation has changed drastically. According to TMZ, there was no prenup. Since they got married in California, the state’s default laws on property division and spousal support will apply. California is a community property state, meaning that any property acquired during the marriage, along with debts incurred, is generally considered jointly owned by both spouses and will be divided equally in the event of divorce.
Alba's Honest Company is valued at $623 million. As for Warren, he founded Pair of Thieves, an underwear and sock company valued at around $100 million, but a TMZ insider told the outlet it's worth way more than that. The outlet notes there are "many other assets."
Who is representing them?
Alba filed her document with celebrity attorney Laura Wasser. Wasser has represented stars like Kim Kardashian, Kevin Costner, and Angelina Jolie and mediated the divorce of Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck.
Warren filed his documents immediately after with attorney Adam Lipsic. TMZ says their documents are mirrored, so it should be a smooth situation. A source told the outlet the split is "extremely amicable."
When was the date of separation?
The date of separation they listed on the documents is December 27.
Rumors began to swirl around Alba and Warren in December, especially when she was spotted without her wedding ring dining in Rome, Italy. The actress went to dinner without her ring on December 4 with Andrea Iervolino, an Italian producer working with her on her new film, Maserati: The Brother in Italy.
When she was spotted without her ring again back in Los Angeles on December 29, after the family celebrated Christmas together, the alarms kept ringing. The Honey star confirmed the separation on January 16.
