Michelle Obama has made her first Instagram appearance since swirling divorce rumors hit her and her husband, former President Barack Obama. The former first lady posted a video announcing her partnership with Reach Higher and the American School Counselor Association, reaffirming her commitment to education advocacy.
Sporting a chic patterned blazer, a roll-neck top, and bold statement earrings, Michelle expressed gratitude toward school counselors across the country, calling them the "beating heart" of the education system.
"This critical work often goes unnoticed, and that's why for so many years, I have been working to make sure that they get the shine they deserve," she said in the video.
The video comes amid rampant speculation about Michelle's marriage to Barack. In it, Michelle looks noticeably more refreshed.
Rumors of tension between the couple of 32 years began when Michelle attended former President Jimmy Carter's funeral alone. Further fueling speculation, she was absent from former President Donald Trump's inauguration last month. However, the couple has since made efforts to project unity. Barack Obama issued a statement regarding the tragic plane crash in Washington, D.C., in which he deliberately used phrases like "our hearts break" and "Michelle and I send our prayers."
Additionally, just a day before, the Obamas released a joint statement announcing that The Obama Presidential Center would be honoring Hadiya Pendleton, an honor roll student tragically killed in 2013, days after performing at Barack's second inauguration, as reported by Daily Mail.
On Michelle's 61st birthday last month, Barack also attempted to silence speculation with a heartfelt tribute, calling her the "love of his life." While the Obamas have not directly addressed the divorce rumors, their public statements and appearances suggest they remain a team despite ongoing whispers in the media. "I’m so lucky to be able to take on life's adventures with you. Love you!" he declared. Michelle noticed the birthday tribute and shared it on her social media accounts, writing, "Love you, honey!"
"Happy Birthday to the best First Lady this country has ever had," one person wrote, while someone else commented, "It has been such a pride filled experience watching the love story between you evolve over the years. Happy Birthday Michelle Obama," adding, "Thank you both for your service! And happy birthday Michelle!"
With Michelle stepping back into the public eye for her educational advocacy, she appears focused on her mission of uplifting students and school counselors.
