Amid a rare public sighting of Anna Kournikova, 43, in Miami on January 25 (the first time she has been seen in public in two years), a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE that Kournikova and Enrique Iglesias are happily raising their children away from the public eye.
The longtime couple, who have been together for over two decades, have embraced a life of privacy in Miami, where they focus on family rather than fame. "They both love being parents and spend their time raising their children," an insider shares. "There is not another Miami couple more private than they are. It works for them."
Iglesias, 49, and Kournikova were known for shying away from the spotlight even at the height of their careers. That preference has only intensified since they welcomed their three children—twins Lucy and Nicholas, born in December 2017, and their youngest daughter Mary, born in February 2020. "They never looked for the spotlight," the source adds. "And that attitude has just gotten stronger since they have had children. They love being parents."
Kournikova's recent sighting in Bal Harbour, a high-end shopping district in Miami, showed the former tennis star in a wheelchair, accompanied by her daughters and friends. Dressed in an all-black outfit and sunglasses, Kournikova was seen laughing with her group, who carried Chanel shopping bags. Her daughters, Lucy and Mary, wore matching white t-shirts and jeans as they chatted and smiled with their mother.
Sources close to Kournikova say her time as a professional athlete has taken a toll on her health. "She has had major pain for years due to her tennis career and rigid training her whole life," a source reveals. Kournikova, who retired from tennis at just 21 due to chronic injuries, has since prioritized her family life with Iglesias, whom she met on the set of his "Escape" music video in 2001.
Despite being one of the entertainment industry's most enduring and intriguing couples, Kournikova and Iglesias have kept their relationship out of the spotlight. Occasionally, they offer rare glimpses of their family life on social media, but for the most part, they prefer to live life away from public scrutiny.
In 2024, during an interview hosted by Cris Regatero and Cris Vanadia, the global pop icon spoke candidly about his life as a father, saying, "I'm relaxing, spending time at home with my kids, taking them to school, watching them grow. I have three children: six-year-old twins and a four-year-old daughter, and it feels like they grow up a little every day."
Iglesias shared his appreciation for his family-centered lifestyle, adding, "I'm headed home tonight, and it already feels like they've grown while I've been away."
