Shakira has shared a heartwarming moment with fans on a very special day. On February 2, the Colombian artist celebrates her 48th birthday, just like her ex Gerard Piqué, who turns 38 on the very same day.
The singer is also preparing for her highly-anticipated performance at tonight's Grammy Awards and the start of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour, which means she must be insanely busy. But, despite all of the work she's doing, Shakira has decided that on her big day, she wants to focus on what really matters to her: her children and her music.
The Colombian star took to Instagram to share some adorable photos with Milan, 12, and Sasha, 9, with whom she reunited in Mexico after spending a few days apart. “Love, Mexican-style!”, she wrote in her caption, looking happier than ever as she hugs her little ones and wears a mariachi hat.
Shakira's reunion with her children was made possible thanks to her brother, Tonino Mebarak, who accompanied them to Mexico City. On her Instagram Stories, she announced her brief return to the United States to attend the Grammy Awards, but assured fans that she will be back very soon to continue with the rehearsals of her tour.
“Thank you for the nice welcome! I'll be back soon and I'll hug you in no time. I love you,” she wrote.
Shakira's birthday and the surrounding celebrations have come at a time of great media attention as speculation about her ex, Gerard Piqué, and his current relationship with Clara Chía, run rampant. There are also rumors that the retired footballer is making a possible move to Miami to take care of his children while Shakira embarks on her tour.
Shakira has never been quiet about her love for her children, also proudly sharing a new achievement of Milan and Sasha in music. “Very happy to share with you Milan and Sasha's musical project,” she wrote on Instagram, making it known that both have participated in an album along with other young talents.
With the start of her tour just around the corner, Shakira is preparing to return to the stage, but making it clear that, beyond her career, her priority will always be her family. “There is nothing I love more than my children,” she has said on several occasions.
