As Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's lawsuit drama unfolds, a surprising name entered the chat when text messages between Lively and Baldoni were released, referencing the one and only Taylor Swift. With Swift dragged into the picture, there have been rumors that the singer was trying to distance herself from her best friend.
In the text messages, the 37-year-old referred to Swift and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as her dragons. While the text messages have nothing to do with the serious allegations put forward by Lively, they did go viral. It's no secret that people love to pit women against each other, but any rumors that Swift is feeling some kind of way about her bestie are not true, at least according to a Page Six insider.
In the text message, Lively wrote, "If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. You will too, I can promise you," per Entertainment Tonight.
Following the news, DailyMail reported that the "Love Story" singer thought it was “uncool and unnecessary” of Lively to involve her. But a source shut down the news with Page Six saying the speculation is "not true "and that they do not have a strained relationship. It wouldn't really make sense for Swift to be mad at Lively anyway. Neither party is denying that she was there.
As noted by Page Six, Baldoni claimed in his $400 million defamation and extortion lawsuit against Lively that she used Swift and her husband to pressure him into accepting her edits to the rooftop scene in the script.
Swift's connection with the film started way before the messages were released. Her song “My Tears Ricochet” (2020) was featured in a scene and the trailer for “It Ends With Us.”
While Lively has seemed to be keeping a low profile, we may soon see her again on our TV screens. The actress was with Swift in her box at the Superbowl last year in Las Vegas, and she is reportedly still invited to this year's game against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to the Sun, Swift is looking to invite Reynolds, Ice Spice, Sabrina Carpenter, Selena Gomez, and her fiance, Benny Blanco, to be by her side in New Orleans. We will have to wait and see if Lively is ready for such a huge public appearance after everything that has unfolded. The internet has not been kind to the mother of four.
What's next for Balodoni and Lively .
Everything went from tabloid news to a legal battle after Lively filed a California Civil Rights Department complaint and subsequent lawsuit against Baldoni in December, accusing the “It Ends With Us” director of sexual harassment, emotional distress, loss of wages, and other allegations.
A New York judge set a March 2026 trial date and ordered lawyers to address concerns about pretrial publicity and attorney conduct, per Spectrum News.
