Ivanka Trump's coat the day after her father's inauguration ceremony was reminiscent of one the Princess of Wales has worn. The first daughter, 43, attended the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral on Tuesday wearing a custom Suzannah London coat dress that featured a large bow. The designer, which Her Royal Highness has also worn before, shared behind-the-scenes photos of Ivanka's coat dress being made at their London Atelier.
"A couple of snippets whilst we work on a custom coat dress to go Stateside for Ivanka Trump," Suzannah London captioned the photos on Instagram. "Ivanka Trump wore the custom Prue coat dress in red Italian wool crepe to attend the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC."
The elegant design evoked memories of a red coat dress with a large bow detail that the Princess of Wales has stepped out in in the past. Catherine first wore her Catherine Walker coat dress featuring a bow neckline to her first "Together at Christmas" carol service in 2021.
Ivanka and the Princess seem to share a similar taste in fashion. For her daughter Arabella's Bat Mitzvah in 2023, the Women Who Work author wore a glittering sequin Jenny Packham cape gown, similar to one that Catherine wore to the premiere of No Time to Die in 2021.
Ivanka has previously met the Princess of Wales. During Donald Trump's first term as president, the first daughter attended events with members of the royal family, including a state banquet at Buckingham Palace. In 2023, Ivanka was spotted chatting with Prince William, while Catherine walked ahead at a celebration for Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan’s royal wedding.
After Her Royal Highness announced in March 2024 that she was undergoing a course of preventative chemotherapy, Ivanka commented on the Princess' video message, "Sending love and prayers to you and your family." The first daughter also wrote on X, "I am deeply saddened to hear about Princess Kate's diagnosis. Amidst the trials she faces, her strength and grace continue to shine brightly. It's disheartening to see the speculation that has surrounded her, particularly during a time when support and kindness are most needed."
"During this challenging period, my thoughts and prayers are with Kate and her family. I hope for her swift and full recovery, and I look forward to seeing her continue to inspire and make a positive impact in the lives of others," Ivanka continued. "Let us all show our support by respecting her privacy and focusing on sending positive thoughts her way."
