Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th President

Today is Donald Trump's inauguration day. He will be sworn in as a the nation's 47th President, in a ceremony attended by some of the most powerful people in the world. Due to the harsh winter weather, the ceremony will take place indoors, at the Capitol Rotunda. This marks the first time in history that this has occurred.

Arrival at the Capitol

The Bidens greet Donald and Melania Trump

Arrivals at the Capitol building began early, with Trump and Joe Biden arriving together at 9:49am. Other notorious figures that arrived include Argentina's president Javier Milei, and Elon Musk, who's been one of Trump's biggest supporters.

Tech billionaires attend the event

Footage from inside the building shows some of the world most important tech figures supporting Trump, including Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, who was also accompanied by his partner Lauren Sanchez. The group is seating near Trump alongside his family and most important members of cabinet.

Christopher Macchio sings "Oh, America!"

The Opera tenor Christopher Macchio perfoms "Oh, America!" kicking off the inauguration. Macchio has been friends with Trump for the past nine years and has performed at his birthday parties and other events. 

He also performed the National Anthem after Trump and Vance were sworn in as the country's President and Vice President. 

Trump to be sworn in at the Capitol Rotunda

Donald Trump entered the Capitol Rotunda after his Vice President JD Vance, welcomed by a warm reception from the people in attendance. The pair shaked hands before Trump took his seat. 

Many onlookers are watching the ceremony from Capitol One Arena, where it's being screened on the jumbotron.

JD Vance was sworn in as Vice President alongside his wife Usha Vance and their kids. Donald Trump was also sworn in, with his family standing by, including his wife Melania, and his kids, Barron, Tiffany, Eric, and Donald Jr

Trump's oath was administered by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. while Vance's was sworn by Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh.

Trump is addressing the nation for the first time after being sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. The speech is expected to outline the goals of his second term as President.

"I return to the presidency confident and optimistic," he says. 

Trump mentions the attempt on his life

In his speech, Trump addressed the attempt on his life over the summer. “My life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again,” he said.

Carrie Underwood performs 'America the Beautiful'

Carrie Underwood performed "America the Beautiful" after Trump concluded his inauguration speech. She performed a cappella after there were some audio issues, with the music starting and stalling. 

"I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” said Underwood in a previous statement. "I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future."

First Lady Melania Trump on Inauguration Day

The Presidential Inauguration featured some striking fashion looks, including Melania Trump, who wore a black coat and a matching hat, and Usha Vance, who opted for pink. Check out this link to learn more.

Donald Trump's youngest son Barron debuted a new look at the inauguration. Barron wore a suit and his hair slicked back, resulting in a strikingly similar portrait to his father when he was younger. 

Donald Trump Jr launches new relationship

Donald Trump's oldest son, Donald Jr., went public with his new relationship during the inauguration weekend. He attended various event with Bettina Anderson. The pair have been linked together for the past six months. 

This marks Donald Jr. first relationship since his notorious engagement to Kimberly Guilfoyle

After being introduced by JD Vance, Donald Trump addressed the crowd outside of the Capitol, filled with his supporters.
