Taylor Swift, one of Blake Lively's closest and most famous friends, is now involved in the notorious case between Lively and Justin Baldoni. New documentation supplied by Baldoni's legal team alleges that Lively relied on her celebrity friends and connections to make sure her version of the film "It Ends With Us" was the one that made it to the final cut version of the film.
The lawsuit was filed on Thursday against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist, alleging that the couple was using their celebrity connections to push for a version of the scene that Lively had written. The filing included screenshots of messages between Baldoni and Lively, where the name "Taylor" was mentioned.
While the lawsuit doesn't specifically say it's Taylor Swift, Baldoni's team confirmed that she's the "Taylor" that is mentioned in the messages.
The filing alleges that Lively rewrote the film's "rooftop" scene, which features the first encounter between their characters in the film. Baldoni claims Lively summoned him for a meeting with Reynolds at their New York penthouse, with a "megacelebrity," presumed to be Swift, arriving unexpectedly and praising Lively's scene.
"Baldoni understood the subtext: he needed to comply with Lively’s direction for the script," states the filing.
Lively and Swift have been friends for years
Lively and Swift have been friends since 2015, and their relationship has grown and evolved. Aside from supporting each other at premieres and significant events, Swift has also mentioned and featured Lively's kids in her songs, showing that they share a bond that goes beyond friendship.
In 2021, Lively directed Swift's music video "I Bet You Think About Me."
While discussing "Deadpool 3", Reynolds addressed a fan theory that posed that Swift would be featured in a cameo in the film. Reynolds revealed that that wasn't true yet he said that she's welcome to join the franchise. "Are you kidding me? I would do anything for that woman. She's a genius," he said to Entertainment Tonight.
More details about Baldoni and Lively's case
Baldoni and Lively have been involved in a dramatic legal dispute since a filing in December when Lively accused Baldoni of "disturbing" and "unprofessional" behavior throughout the production of "It Ends With Us." The suit accuses Baldoni of "sexual harassment" and orchestrating a plan to "damage her reputation."
Since the filing, many of Lively's connections have come forward and offered their support for her, including her "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" costars and Amber Heard.
