His statements claim to usher in a "golden age" of Hollywood, which, according to him, has been challenged by foreign filmmaking.

“It is my honor to announce Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone, to be Special Ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,” he wrote on Thursday.

"They will serve as Special Envoys to me for the purpose of bringing Hollywood, which has lost much business over the last four years to Foreign Countries, BACK—BIGGER, BETTER, AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE! These three very talented people will be my eyes and ears, and I will get done what they suggest. It will again be, like The United States of America itself, The Golden Age of Hollywood!”

Voight, Gibson, and Stallone have been supporters of Trump over the past years, sharing their support of him in public on various occasions.

Stallone introduced Trump at a Mar-a-Lago event this November, calling him the "second George Washington." Gibson endorsed Trump before the 2024 elections.

Voight and Trump have held a friendship that dates back years, with Trump awarding Voight the National Medal of the Arts in 2019.

His statements regarding Hollywood come at a time when the industry has been impacted by the wildfires that have surged across Los Angeles, disposing many of their homes and disrupting the shooting schedules of various films and TV shows.

They also follow a year where the Hollywood box office performed lower than expected, with the industry being affected by the writers and actors' strike.
