Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have finalized their divorce.
Court documents show that the legal proceedings concluded on Monday, five months after Lopez filed for divorce. The documentation shows that Lopez will be keeping a valuable item worth an estimated $5 million.
Page Six reports that Lopez will keep her engagement ring, which is an 8.5-carat green diamond gifted to her by Affleck. The filing states that Lopez would keep all “clothing, jewelry and miscellaneous personal effects in her possession, custody or control.”
The ring is a rare green color and is worth an estimated $5 million and was gifted to Lopez in 2022.
“I always say the color green is my lucky color,” Lopez wrote at the time of her engagement in her newsletter "On The Jlo." “I’ve realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green.”
According to diamond and ring experts, Lopez's engagement ring is incredibly rare due to its color. “The rarity of a natural green diamond cannot be overstated,” said an expert to PEOPLE.
“Generally speaking, green is the second rarest natural color of a diamond, with fancy red being the rarest. Only a small handful of green diamonds come to the market every year, and almost never are they in the vivid color and size of this diamond.”
Lopez always intended to keep the ring
While now it's confirmed that Lopez is keeping the engagement ring, sources claim that this was never in doubt.
“This isn’t the first time Jen has kept the bling,” said a source to OK Magazine back in August, when she filed for divorce from Affleck.
“Back in 2003, after their first engagement went up in flames, Jennifer held on to a 6.1-carat pink diamond ring worth a cool $3.52 million. Fast-forward to 2024, and now she has no intention of parting with the latest gem!”
