Drew Barrymore is celebrating one of her closest friends. In a new post on Instagram, Barrymore shared various photos with Cameron Diaz, with whom she's worked on two films in the past, and discussed some of the reasons why their friendship has endured the years.
Barrymore shared various photos with Diaz taken over the years, from most recent selfies to their time making the "Charlie's Angels" movies.
She was inspired by the TikTok trend "this friend of mine," which discusses people's closest and most special friendships. "And then I met this friend of mine..." reads Barrymore's caption, kicking off with a photo of herself and Diaz in their car, with their heads huddled close to each other.
"And then I met this friend of mine, and all I have to do is stand in front of her and she sees everything I am, everything I stand for," reads the message over the photos, which show Barrymore and Diaz laughing together, a behind the scenes look at "Charlie's Angels" where they're both dressed up as men in suits, and a photo of Diaz kissing her head.
"There's a level of seeing I've never really had before in my life," continues the caption.
"She looks at me and she sees me."
More details about Barrymore and Diaz's friendship
Barrymore and Diaz have been friends since they were teenagers, first meeting when Diaz was starting her career as a model and Barrymore was working in a coffee shop.
"We've experienced birth, life, death, marriage, divorce— highs and lows, work, boyfriends, friends, travel — there is nothing we haven't done together," said Barrymore in an Instagram Live session from 2021.
The two later worked on "Charlie's Angels" together, with Diaz asking for Barrymore to star in the film once she got the part.
