Katie Holmes wears Christmas green as she readies for a performance of 'Our Town'

Katie Holmes is feeling the holiday spirit. The actress and filmmaker was recently spotted on her way to work on Broadway, where she stars in the new production of "Our Town." Holmes wore a festive and bright green coat that was perfect for a cold winter day and the holiday season.

Holmes was photographed on her way to The Barrymore Theater, where the production is taking place. She wore a bright green coat that she paired with some jeans, black boots, sunglasses, a cream-colored purse called Le Cambon bag from the brand Manu Atelier, and a black beanie. 

She was carrying some flowers and coffee from Starbucks and smiled brightly at the paparazzi. 

Photographers captured her entering the theater, which had a billboard of "Wicked" on it. While Holmes' look might not be a direct reference to the beloved Broadway musical that's now screening in theaters, it's possible that she wanted to tribute the film with her clothing, wearing the coat as a nod to the film's green-skinned protagonist Elphaba.

Katie Holmes protects her daughter from the media

Earlier this month, Holmes made a rare comment on social media, addressing her daughter and the media coverage of her life. In an Instagram story, Holmes shared a screenshot of a story from The Daily Mail that suggested that her daughter Suri Cruise had inherited a large sum of money from her father Tom Cruise. 

 "Suri Cruise the millionaire! Tom Cruise’s trust fund has ‘kicked in’ and mom Katie Holmes has one for her too," read the headline.

Holmes was upset by the implication and made it clear that the outlet was spreading misinformation. 

"Completely false," wrote Holmes over the post. "Daily Mail you can stuff making stuff up now." She captioned the post with a simple statement: "Enough." 

The post received support from her friends and followers, who commended Holmes for speaking up and standing up for her daughter. "I’m so proud of you for calling them out," wrote Zoey Deutch, Holmes' co-star on "Our Town." 

" I love you to the moon!"
