Yankee, born Ramon Luis Ayala Rodriguez, shared a statement on his Instagram stories, revealing that Gonzalez filed for divorce and that he respected her decision. "With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share some important news about my personal life," he wrote in Spanish.

"After more than two decades of marriage and after many months of trying to save my marriage, which my wife and I share, today my lawyers respond to the divorce petition received by Mireddys."

"I respect Mireddys' decision, and I'm grateful for the time we shared, full of blessings and values, of love and with a beautiful family that will continue to be our priority," he concluded, sharing that the statement would be the only one he'd make regarding the conclusion of his marriage.

Yankee and Gonzalez married in 1994, when they were 17 years old. They share three children: Jesaaelys Marie, 28, Yamilette Rodriguez, 29, and Jeremy, 26.

Aside from their marriage, the pair have worked together for decades, with Gonzalez serving as Yankee's manager and the CEO of his record label, El Cartel Records.

More details about Gonzalez and Yankee's relationship

Yankee and Gonzalez have opted to keep their lives private and away from the public eye. Following Yankee's retirement in 2022, Gonzalez shared a statement on social media, praising Yankee's career and his future.

“Today I have mixed feelings. I'm happy and I'm sad," she wrote in Spanish on Instagram.

"While we celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary, I see you telling the world that you're retiring from music, something that has been your passion over the past three decades. Soon you'll be saying goodbye to the stage. You've enjoyed Daddy Yankee for so long but now, it's Raymond Ayala's turn to enjoy what he's built."
