Watch Shakira’s emotional speech during Thanksgiving without her sons

Shakira continues her path to success, as she recently broke Taylor Swift's record in Mexico City with her 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' Tour. This week the Colombian super star celebrated Thanksgiving this year, but the day was bittersweet as she was not with her sons Milan and Sasha. Reports indicate that the boys spent the holiday in Spain with their father, Gerard Piqué, in accordance with their custody arrangement. Even though this new situation arose after her split from their father, the Colombian singer found joy celebrating Thanksgiving with her team, who are assisting her in preparations for her upcoming world tour.

On her Instagram, Shakira shared a video of herself at a large table with her team. As the host, 'Shaki' expressed heartfelt sentiments for those gathering with her on Thanksgiving, which also involved a proper celebration filled with tasty food and a toast of white wine.

"For many of us, it's our first Thanksgiving in the United States, and for me, it's my first Thanksgiving, and I love being able to share it with you," she said. Holding a glass and feeling emotional, she revealed that she felt a bit down at first because her children weren't there. "This morning I was a little sad because my kids aren't here with me, but then I saw their faces, and my day started to change because they have... such amazing energy, their smiles, and their kindness," she shared.

"I just want to say how grateful I am for this team; I truly believe I have the best team, the best band, the best crew, and the best dancers. I am deeply grateful for each and every one of you, as well as for the countless individuals who have supported me over the years, including my beloved band... Thank you for your dedication and hard work in creating this show, which I believe will be the most important of my career."

The 47-year-old singer continued her toast, showing appreciation to her team for working on Thanksgiving while being away from their families. "I know many would prefer to be at home with their loved ones today, so I truly appreciate that you’re here working on this day, knowing how significant it is for you Americans. Thank you for making my day and for always giving me your best; I truly wish you a Happy Thanksgiving," she said.

As she concluded her speech, the room filled with applause for Shakira, who was surrounded by around 50 team members helping with her international tour preparations.

The custody agreement between Shakira and Pique

In November 2022, Ramón Tamborero, Gerard Piqué’s lawyer, shared the details of the custody agreement for Milan and Sasha. According to Tamborero, as reported by La Vanguardia, the three holiday periods during the school year—Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter—would belong entirely to the former footballer. In addition, Piqué would have the children for ten days each month, with summer vacation split between the two parents in a 70/30 ratio in favor of the Spaniard. However, it is uncertain whether this agreement remains unchanged or if modifications have been made since then.
