This past Friday at the Crypto. com Arena, Carpenter brought out Aguilera as one of her surprise guests. The two performed two of Aguilera's most famous songs: "What a Girl Wants" and "Ain't No Other Man."

Aguilera first appeared onstage wearing a black corset and shorts, wearing an almost identical look to Carpenter.

Then they performed a slower rendition of "What a Girl Wants," with the two sitting side by side.

"Los Angeles, do you mind if we slow it down for a second?" asked Carpenter. "And do you mind if I sing one of my favorite songs in the world with one of my biggest idols, Christina Aguilera?"

The two shared a hug onstage, with Aguilera saying goodbye to the audience and telling Carpenter “I love you so much.”

Following the performance, Carpenter shared a sweet tribute on Instagram, thanking Aguilera for joining her and just how much their relationship matters to her.

"LA night 1," wrote Carpenter.

"Thank you Xtina for coming out last night, giving everyone (me included) the surprise of our lives, and for being one of the main reasons i love + wanted to make pop music, i adore you to no end!!!!!!"

This year, Carpenter has experienced an impressive rise in her notoriety and career, releasing one of the most famous records of the year and one of the biggest songs ever with "Espresso."

Aguilera has been supportive through it all. In October, Carpenter was featured in Time 100, with Aguilera writing a brief tribute in her honor.

“She may claim to be short and sweet, but never underestimate the mighty power behind Sabrina Carpenter’s talent,” reads her tribute.

“As a fellow 5-ft. female with a similar working-adolescent Disney history, I firsthand recognize and respect what it takes to maintain clarity while delivering within the demands of this business.”

“As exciting generations of pop princesses continue to emerge, I feel adoration and protectiveness, knowing the journey at hand and ahead," she concluded.
