If there’s a name that stands out in the music and artistic industry for carrying the Spanish label globally, it’s Julio Iglesias. Beyond his successful and enduring professional career, marked by a shift from a footballer’s dream due to an accident to conquering the stage with his voice, his personal life is rich in anecdotes and nuances.

In addition to his well-known reputation as a ladies‘ man with relationships with Isabel Preysler and Miranda Rijnsburger, Julio Iglesias has formed a large family. From his three siblings, Carlos Iglesias shares both parents, while Jaime and Ruth are from his father only.

From the first marriage of Julio Iglesias Puga, the singer’s father, with María del Rosario de la Cueva y Perignat (his mother), Carlos, the singer’s first brother, was born two years after Julio, in 1945. Growing up together, their small and nearly imperceptible age difference strengthened their bond, making them inseparable.

Over time, their bond deepened, leading Carlos to forsake his medical career, initially following in his father’s footsteps. Instead, he became his older brother’s right-hand man and primary professional support, taking on roles as a manager and working closely in a managerial capacity.

The manager role placed him in the media spotlight, even more so than Julio’s career took off. The father of Enrique Iglesias, Chábeli Iglesias, and Julio Iglesias Jr. began to achieve success, which led Carlos to have more public appearances. Later, he focused on his own business as a music producer and distanced himself from Julio.

Carlos has consistently been the closest and most prominent of Julio’s three siblings. The two and their parents formed a tight-knit family until 1983.

At that time, his father, the gynecologist and María del Rosario officially ended their marriage, following numerous speculations fueled by Julio’s Don Juan tendencies and his relocation to Ourense, where he established his residence.

Julio Iglesias Puga’s new partner and two children

In the early nineties, following a highly publicized kidnapping by ETA lasting twenty-one days and a romantic setback, Julio Iglesias Puga once again found love with the beautiful model Ronna Keith. The couple sealed their love in a secret civil ceremony in Jacksonville, Florida, a decade later in 2001.

After the death of his previous wife, whom he didn’t want to hurt, Julio publicly acknowledged his relationship with Ronna. With her, he welcomed the two younger siblings of Julio and Carlos Iglesias: Jaime Nathaniel and Ruth, born in 2004 and 2006, respectively.

Jaime and Ruth lead a discreet life away from the media, much like their mother, and their names rarely appear in the news. Julio Iglesias Jr., Julio Iglesias‘ son, recently mentioned that his father has a good relationship with his younger siblings. However, it’s not very close due to their age difference.

“My father and Miranda keep in touch with Ronna, but neither my siblings nor I do. Don’t ask me why, because I don’t even know the reason,” he said on TVE’s “Lazos de Sangre,” which did a tribute to Julio Iglesias on his eight decades of life.
