This year, the world mourned the losses of multiple icons across industries, from legendary royals to Hollywood icons and important parts of our youths.

tWitch
Stephen Boss, also known as tWitch, died on December 13.
He was the DJ on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and one of the show’s most popular faces. He started working there on 2014 as a guest DJ and stayed there until the show’s conclusion, becoming one of its producers. “I’m heartbroken,” wrote DeGeneres. “tWitch was pure love and light. He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him. Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children — Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.”
Christine McVie
Christine McVie died of an illness on November 30th at the age of 79. The singer, keyboardist and song writer was a member of the band Fleetwood Mac. Some of her biggest hits include “Everywhere” and “Songbird,” making for some of the band’s most romantic and joyful songs.
Aaron Carter
Aaron Carter died on November 5th. He was 34 years old.
Carter was a ‘90s icon, brother of The Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter, who had a memorable career as a singer and actor, releasing hits like “I Want Candy” and “Crush on You.” He was also featured in the beloved kids’ series “Lizzie McGuire.”
Queen Elizabeth II
Queen Elizabeth II died on September 8th. She was the queen for 70 years, becoming the longest reigning British monarch and the longest reigning female monarch in history.
Angela Lansbury
Angela Lansbury died in October 11th. She 96 years old and one of the world’s most famous actresses, performing in films, musicals, and more. Some of her most famous work include “Murder, She Wrote,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and more.
Irene Cara
Irene Cara died on November 25th. She was an Academy Award winning singer, known for her songs “Last Dance,” “Flashdance,” “Fame,” and more.
George Perez
George Perez died on May 6th. He was a prolific comic book artist, known for revitalizing multiple super heroes, among them, “Teen Titans,” “Wonder Woman,” and the “Justice League.”
Ray Liotta
Ray Liotta died on May 26. The actor was a beloved part of Hollywood, known for his work with multiple acclaimed directors, among them, Martin Scorsese and Jonathan Demme. Some of his most impactful films include “Goodfellas” and “Field of Dreams.”
Monica Vitti
Monica Vitti died on February 2nd, at 90 years old. The actress was one of the last icons of Italian cinema, starring in revered films like “L’Avventura,” “La Notte” and “La Strada.”
Gaspard Ulliel
Gaspard Ulliel died in a ski accident on January 19th. He was 37 years old. He was a French actor known for portraying Hannibal Lecter in “Hannibal Rising” and Yves Saint Laurent in “Saint Laurent.”
Bob Saget
Bob Saget died on January 9th. The actor was known for his work in “Full House,” the iconic ‘90s sitcom that defined the childhoods of millions of people all over the world.
Jason David Frank
Jason David Frank died on November 20th. He was 49 years old.
Frank was known for his work in the Power Rangers, playing the Green Ranger and later the White Ranger in the original version of the series. He later made appearances in other franchise spinoffs, becoming the most recognizable face of the brand in the West.
Sidney Poitier
Sidney Poitier died on January 6th. He’s a pivotal figure for the Black community in the film industry, becoming the first Black performer to win an Academy Award for best actor. Some of his most memorable work includes “Lilies of the Field,” “The Defiant Ones,” and “Blackboard Jungle.”
William Hurt
William Hurt died on March 13. He was a beloved actor and an icon of the ‘80s, becoming a leading man for all sorts of films. Some of his most memorable roles include the erotic thriller “Body Heat” and “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” which earned him an Academy Award for best actor.
