While Laura Wasser represents Kim, Kanye has already made his way through five different lawyers since their divorce was announced, including Melinda and Bill Gates’ lawyer Robert Cohen.
The former couple certainly isn’t the first to be represented by big names within the legal industry, and they won’t be the last. With this in mind, the BPP University Law School team has shared with HOLA! USA a list of the lawyers representing some of the most famous faces in Hollywood over the years.
Six celebrity lawyers, who are they, and who have they represented?
Before taking on one of the world’s most watched and talked about cases, Vasquez started as an associate at the law firm Brown Rudnick. She eventually began her career as a trial lawyer and met her client Johnny Depp.
Who has she represented? Johnny Depp, Leonardo Dicaprio, and Ben Affleck.
Robert Stephan Cohen
With the very public proceedings between Kanye West and his former wife, Kim Kardashian, it’s unsurprising to see Robert Stephan Cohen on this list, as the famous divorce lawyer represented the rapper for a short period before dropping him.
But Kanye West is just one of many famous faces that Cohen has represented throughout his extensive career. Named one of New York’s top lawyers, Cohen has been involved in settling the likes of Melinda and Bill Gates’s divorce and even two of Donald Trump’s divorces with his ex-wives.
Who has he represented? Kanye West, Melinda and Bill Gates, Uma Thurman, and Mike Bloomberg.
Shawn Holley
Another lawyer that has a fair few famous names listed in her book is Shawn Holley. The lawyer famously represented Lindsay Lohan back in the early 2010s with her legal troubles and received praise for showing how much she cared for her as a client.
However, before representing some of the biggest names in Hollywood, Shawn Holley started her early career as a public defender. She then moved on to high-profile court cases, which has left her recognized as the go-to lawyer when high-profile celebrities get into trouble.
Who has she represented? Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Mike Tyson, and Snoop Dogg.
Fiona Shackleton
Like in the US, the UK has its very own star-studded lawyers that have represented countless famous faces, one of which is Fiona Shackleton, a divorce lawyer — who is sometimes referred to by the nickname “Steel Magnolia.”
Like other celebrity lawyers, Fiona has impressive names on her roster and has represented the likes of King Charles during his divorce, Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney during his split with his second wife Heather Mills, and is still the serving private solicitor of Prince William and Harry.
Who has she represented? Liam Gallagher, David Walliams, Rick Stein, and Paul McCartney.
Allen Grubman
According to showbiz law, if you haven’t been represented by Allen Grubman, you haven’t “made it” in the entertainment industry. Not only is Grubman one of the founders of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but he is also one of the most prestigious lawyers in the entertainment industry.
He has made his name over the years for being able to negotiate deals and agreements for his clients that have allowed them to maintain control over their music and work. Throughout his extensive career, he has worked with several famous faces, including Elton John, U2, Lionel Richie, and Lady Gaga.
Who has he represented? Lizzo, Madonna, Sting, Robert DeNiro, and Nicki Minaj.
David Sherborne
Another lawyer on the UK scene with a star-studded list of clients is David Sherborne. The lawyer hit the headlines in recent months after he successfully represented Coleen Rooney at the infamous “Wagatha Christie” trial against Rebecca Vardy.
However, before making his name in the world of media and communications, Sherborne studied at Oxford University, where he got a first-class honors degree in classics. After finishing University, he became involved in numerous famous cases, including helping Max Mosley sue News of World after the phone hacking scandal and Johnny Depp’s case against The Sun in 2020.
Who has he represented? Cheryl Cole, Harry Styles, Kate Moss, Amy Winehouse, Jude Law, and Kate Winslett.
