Michelle and Barack Obama look proud unveiling their official White House portrait

The tradition of having portraits of Presidents of the United States began with the first President, George Washington. However, they are not always paintings, and photographs can also be used.

Michelle looked classy in a sheer pink-red ombre dress with a pleated skirt. Her painting looked gorgeous with a baby blue princess-style dress.

Michelle’s portrait was painted by Sharon Sprung. “Sharon Sprung is a brilliant artist who joins a small, but mighty group of women who have painted an official White House portrait,” Michelle wrote on Instagram along with a video to learn more about the artist.

Barack’s was painted by Robert McCurdy, who specializes in photo-realistic portraits. McCurdy told the White House Historical Association, that the 44-year-old was “charming” when he came to his studio to be photographed for the painting, per People.

The President and former President looked happy to be with each other again in the White House.

The portraits will hang permanently in the White House and are separate from the National Portrait Gallery paintings that was revealed in 2018.
